Solid Solution Heat Treatment of Austenitic Stainless Steel Castings

The main function of heat treatment of austenitic stainless steel is to make the carbides precipitated in the as-cast state dissolve into the austenite matrix of the steel and improve the corrosion resistance of the Stainless Steel Casting Parts. For austenitic stainless steel castings that are prone to intergranular corrosion and pitting corrosion, correct solution treatment is very important.

Solid Solution treatment has no effect on the mechanical properties of Stainless Steel Casting parts, but the heat treatment temperature of stainless steel castings is too high or the holding time is too long, especially at the thin-walled parts of small stainless Steel Casting, which may cause coarse grains and reduce the mechanical properties.
