3D printing of castings improves casting efficiency of precision castings

In the current casting production process, as we make the Investment Casting Parts, casting mainly includes Die Casting, lost mold casting, Investment Casting and so on.   As a basic role in the manufacturing industry, casting industry plays a role in providing basic castings for automobile manufacturing, mechanical equipment, ship aerospace and other fields. Some of the castings are simple in structure and easy in process, so they can be completed by traditional methods.   But for aerospace and other fields, the precision of castings is highly required, the structure is complex, if the traditional way is still adopted, relying on manual experience to do it, it is easy to cause casting defects, reduce the yield, and eventually lead to economic and even safety losses.

But in recent years, 3D printing technology has developed rapidly and spread widely, and many fields are beginning to introduce the new technology.  For the casting industry, the combination of casting simulation software and laser powder rapid prototyping technology can achieve accurate casting manufacturing and improve the casting production efficiency.  

The basic idea of the combination of 3D printing technology and Precision Casting simulation technology is as follows:  
1. Input the casting blank completed with 3d design (including processing allowance) into the casting process design CAD to calculate the pouring system, riser, cold iron, isolated molten pool and modulus;  
2. According to the size and position of the calculation results, add the pouring system and riser (cold iron) to the casting blank;  
3. Input the initial pouring system and riser information into the casting process simulation CAE to simulate the casting process, optimize the pouring system and riser, and output the optimized pouring and riser information;  
4. According to the 3d picture of the blank, hlP-500 laser powder rapid forming machine is used to produce the prototype wax parts of the casting directly (including shrinkage);  
5. According to the designed casting process, link the casting system to the prototype wax parts and pass the shell making.  Dewaxing, high temperature roasting and other processes to manufacture membrane shell;  
6. The metal liquid heated to a certain temperature is poured into the membrane shell, and the casting blank is produced after cooling.  
7. Later, use numerical control equipment to produce the final product to verify the rationality of the design.
